{You colour my world...}

Hello everyone!

Today I am sharing my first design team layout for Lady Pattern Paper. I am feeling so blessed to be part of her team. For my overseas friends, Lady Pattern Paper is a designer from Cape Town, and she enriches the scrapbook industry in South-Africa with her stunning and fun-filled designs. 

This is her absolutely beautiful new collection Bon Crayon. It's all about butterflies, hearts, stripes, confetti, daisies, everything cute, trendy and pretty, a rainbow of colours and patterns. Who doesn't love pretty paper?

To compliment the name of this collection I stamped the flowers, leaves, butterflies and birds on water colour paper, coloured with distress oxides and fussy cut. The chipboard elements were painted with craft paint.

{#happiness...}

Hello everyone!

I am back with another layout using the March mood board.  I knew this was going to be one of my favourite mood boards. My previous layout was soft and feminine. This layout is a grunge mixed media layout. I used the Week 4 sketch designed by Jen Hedger for inspiration.

Here is my layout.

To create the mixed media background, I used the Tim Holtz stencil Cargo, red and orange acrylic paint and stamped on the corners of the white cardstock.  I outlined some of the letters with a thin black Art Liner.  I randomly used the Words of Wisdom Duty Attic stencil. I also used a brick and chevron background stamp. I randomly stamped with a arrow stamp. I then used washi tape and very old Making Memories rub ons in different fonts. Despite how long I have had these they still worked fantastic.

The next step as to colour the chipboard pieces.  Here are some close-ups.

Because of the busy background I kept my chippies simple and just coloured them with black and red acrylic paint.  I glued some of the little hearts from the Heart Attack Panel used on my previous layout to the Polaroid Frames.

When everything was glued down I made splatters with diluted white gesso and black ink.

{You are so beautiful...}

Hello everyone!

This is my layout inspired by the beautiful March mood board. I have never used red and orange on the same layout, and this colour combo might just be one of my favourites.
This is a photo of my little granddaughter that I took on Valentine's Day.  I am so thankful that I have a daughter-in-law who loves photos and always allow me to take as many photos as I wish of the little ones.

To create the background, I used a stencil and outlined the heart and arrow shapes with a white gel pen.  I also used my sewing machine to sew around the background paper. I then splattered with red and orange acrylic paint.

The next step was to colour the chipboard pieces.

The title was painted with black acrylic paint.

I only used one half of the beautiful String of Heart Frame. I painted the frame with red acrylic paint.  Once dry I covered it with glossy accents and sprinkled dry red glitter on top.

I painted the foliage with orange acrylic paint and dabbed with red, white and grey acrylic paint.  The leaves were painted grey and dabbed with white, red and orange acrylic paint.

The pieces of the Heart Attack Panel were painted with red acrylic paint.  The little heart centers were glued down randomly.  I also used Dusty Attic Pearls in the centers of my punched out flowers.

The page pebble and wordplay phrases were embossed with black embossing powder and filled up the engraved words with white embossing paste.  I allowed the paste to dry for a couple of seconds and then cleaned the excess paste with a baby wipe.

{African Adventure...}

I am back with another layout featuring the stunning new African Dream collection by a Cape Town designer Lady Pattern Paper.  Seeing the new papers I knew exactly which photos and Dusty Attic chippies I was going to use.

I love Africa and all of her diversity.  No other place on this planet can compare with Africa.  Africa is not just about wildlife.  It is the food, the people, music, sunrises and sunsets and the ever-changing landscapes.  These photos were taken on our trip to Lesotho in 2007. Lesotho is a fascinating place and a must for any adventurous traveller.  A very mountainous rural place and there is so much so experience.

This is how I treated the chipboard pieces.

 I coloured the arrow using Black Soot and Americana acrylic paint in True Ochre and George Clay and dry brushed with white acrylic paint.

I coloured the driftwood using Distress Ink in Black Soot and Vintage Photo.

I coloured the grass clusters using Distress Oxides in Lucky Clover. I coloured the feathers with  Black Soot and with the back of a thin paint brush I made white dots.

Here is a close-up of the hut.  I was so excited to use the cobblestone panel.  In the rural and mountain areas in Lesotho, the people live in huts made of stone and mud with thatch roofs.  The hut was cut from my Silhouette. To color the cobblestones, I used  Distress Ink in Black Soot and Vintage Photo and glued them to the hut. 

When everything was glued down and I added art stones coloured with Prima Color Bloom in Antique Gold. I then made splatters with white gesso and black ink.
