The timing for this collection is perfect. South Africa has one of the highest rates of violence against women on the entire continent. It is called "femicide" and the meaning horrifies me, and seems to have touched every women of every walk of life, and from every social sphere. It has become an epidemic in South Africa. As a Sister Tribe we need to stand together, hold hands and support each other...and pray! I salute the men who also stand up, speak out and act to stop violence and abuse against women. The title of my layout is "Because I sparkle, that's why"... and I want to say this to all the little girls and women in this beautiful country of ours, you are beautiful, previous and you sparkle.
I used a photo of my daughter who is an amazing woman.
Here is my layout.
I
used the Trellis paper as a base for my layout and trimmed the Mosaic paper at
the top and left side and glued it to the Trellis paper. From the cut-out sheet
I used the “Because I sparkle, that’s why” my title and fussy cut the “She has
that spirited drive…” on the cut-out sheet and glued it onto card stock.
These
chippies are just stunning. I embossed
the lantern and trellis with white embossing powder. I snipped the swirls in
three pieces and tucked them under the flower clusters.
When
everything was glued down I added art stones and splatters with diluted white
gesso and black ink.
