{take a HIKE...}

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all staying healthy and safe during the Coronavirus lock down and sane of course and crafting up a storm.

Today I am sharing my layout inspired by the stunning April mood board. This is my daughter and her husband. They hiked the Otter Trail in February 2019.  The Otter trail is probably one of the most famous hikes in Africa.  The scenery on the Otter trail is spectacular as you can see from the photos. To them it was an incredible experience, magnificent views and challenging. They trained hard and made sure they were fit and prepared with good gear.  This hike was a life experience, memories they will treasure forever.

For this layout I also used the Week 13 sketch designed by Jennifer Hedger. This sketch is perfect for any theme. Not just vacations or travel.  Anything will work.  Give it a try!

Here is the mood board.

and here is the sketch.

and here is my layout.

This is how I treated the chippies.

The title, mini seagulls and binoculars were painted with black acrylic paint.
I inked the boots with Distress Oxide in Iced Spruce and spritz with water for a mottled effect and then inked the edges with Distress Oxide in Black Soot and Vintage Photo. I love using the Wordpl@y phrases, so much awesomeness.

The compasses were painted with Americana acrylic paint in Grey Storm and the edges were inked with Distress Oxide in Black Soot. I love these chippies with the detail, you can cover it with ink or paint and still see the awesome detail.

The Adventure subtitle were painted with Americana Acrylic paint in Georgia Clay and True Ochre.

The Seaweed and Coral were painted with Americana Acrylic paint in Tuscan Red, Georgia Clay and True Ochre and dabbed with white acrylic paint.

To colour the wooden fence I first covered it with white gesso.  One dry I sprayed it with Distress Oxide spray in Iced Spruce and randomly dry brushed with white gesso.  I then inked the edges with Distress Oxide in Black Soot. I dry brushed the wood slices with white gesso.

I covered the skeleton fish, seagulls, sign post, wood grain frames and drift wood with Americana acrylic paint in White Wash and Grey Storm and inked the edges with Distress Oxide in Black Soot and Vintage Photo.

some close ups.

After everything was glued down I added art stones and splatters with diluted white gesso.

These are the Dusty Attic chipboard pieces that I used.
