Hello everyone!
I hope you are all well.
I am sharing my September design team layout with you filled with so many
wonderful elements. Die cuts, flowers and of course amazing Dusty Attic chippies.
I really enjoyed creating this layout with the Pirate theme. We visited Namibia in
April 2017. This was a fascinating site to visit along Namibia's famous Skeleton
Coast near Henties Bay as the Zeila wreck is still quite intact wedged into the
sand just offshore. It has become the nesting location for numerous birds, and
a great photo opportunity.
Here is my layout.
I absolutely love this 11" Porthole that I altered to frame my photo.
I covered both parts of the Porthole with white gesso. To colour the
Porthole I used Americana Acrylic Paint in Open Water, Traditional Burnt Umber
and Georgia Clay. I did a lot of blending to create shading and highlighting effects
on my project. For this I used DecoArt Easy Float which helps to achieve a smooth
result. I first painted the Porthole with the Open Water acrylic paint and with a sponge
brush I dabbed the edges firstly with the Georgia Clay and then the Umber.
I love the result.
I randomly covered the cogs, machine parts, fans, gauge pointers, industrial
border and the industrial chains with coarse gesso, and when dried I covered all the
parts with black gesso. I then dabbed the parts with a sponge brush and
Americana Acrylic Paint in Traditional Burnt Umber, True Ochre, Georgia Clay
and Open Water. I dry brushed all the parts with white gesso and added Art
Alchemy Wax in Rich Copper.
The mini Seagulls were painted with black gesso.
The title meet the Captain is perfect for this layout. "Meet the" was covered
with black gesso.
The lower part of the "Captain" was randomly covered with course gesso then
covered with Art Alchemy Wax in Rich Copper. The top part was covered with
Americana Acrylic Paint in Slate Grey and dry brushed with white gesso.
The Pirate pistol was treated in the same manner.
The Pirate Icons are amazing and a great addition to my layout.
I used my Silhouette to cut the Tombstone.
The two sculls were painted with white gesso and then dabbed in watered
down Distress Oxide in Frayed Burlap for a mottled effect.
The flag was heat embossed with black embossing powder.
The bell was painted with the Burnt Umber and Art Alchemy Wax in
Rich Copper.
I painted the word "Pirate" and bomb with black gesso and dry brushed with
the Slate Grey acrylic paint.
I painted the skeleton fish with white gesso and dry brushed with the Slate
Grey acrylic paint.
The ship wheel and the anchor below were painted similar to the cogs and
machine parts.
I inked the gauge with Chocolate Brilliance Ink and edge with black ink.
I hope you are all well.
