{The best day of my life...}

This is my take on the April sketch over at OUAS. The theme was "The best day of my life..." I used photos of my son and Marike's wedding last year October.  What a wonderful sketch and theme, really loved it.  The muslin and burlap flowers I made myself, I saw it on Pinterest. My journalling is on a tag tucked in behind the photos and reads as follows :
 

My wedding day so far was the best day of my life…until my son got married last  year October.  People tell you the day goes by fast, they tell you to take every moment and  savour every memory. However, the one thing no one can prepare you for is just how incredible the entire day will be. Nothing can truly prepare you for the overwhelming joy you’ll experience.   When I think back to that day and all the incredible love that surrounded Nico and Marike I am truly

blown away.  It was so perfect in every way…may God grant them a happy married life...

{Just married...}

With the challenge over at Scrap Africa, you had to create a project, using black and white photo's, triangles and confetti. I decided to use this photo of my son and Marike as they walked out of the Chapel, just their confetti was popcorn in pretty little cones. I love this photo, especially my son's face is so precious. I loved the quote as well.

This is my take on the April sketch challenge over at SCRAP THAT. Thank you for a great sketch, I really enjoyed working with it. This is the sketch which I just rotated.

{Shoes...}

This is my take on Sketch Challenge No 16 over at Scrap Africa.The journalling is on a tag behind the photo and reads : "This is one of the photos I took at my son's wedding. The bride's shoes and the matching bridesmaid shoes. The color combination of pink and turquoise was perfect as this was Marike's color scheme for their wedding. Being a scrapper, I took advantage being at the reception before the photographer, and took a few photos I knew I could use on my layouts and for the album that I am still anticipating." This is the sketch that I just flipped.

This is my take on the challenge at Scrap Africa to use only plain card stock. I used different variations of peach.  I started by distressing and inking all the edges of my card stock. I stamped my background and added texture paste over it and then I inked and outlined some of the bricks. I had to redo my background about 3 times until I was satisfied and used the "scrap" to make the flowers.

Eating...

This is my take on the March challenge at Once Upon a Sketch. You had to create a layout about what you love about the weekend. I love this Sketch, it is so versitile. My journalling is tucked in behind the photo on the left. Every Sunday morning after church my husband and I have coffee and cake at  different coffee shops. That is our chat time and very special...

Life

My 1^st of January 2013 was sweetened with gratitude.  My very first layout as a Guest Designer was published on Scrap Africa’s blog.  I loved the sketch and I really enjoyed the challenge.  This was also my first mixed media layout. Wow,  I enjoyed using gesso, gauze, stamping and masking.  Thank you so much Denise and Evgenia for the invitation, it was an honour.

Winter shoot when my daughter was in matric at Rietvlei dam. I love black and white photos and to give this layout a bit of colour I added a little bit of red.

This is my entry for the Sketch 8 challenge over at Scrap Africa..I discovered my childhood photos and are totally in love with them. I was about three years old on this photo and we were visiting friends of my mom. The flowers on the corners are hand-made. Other products I used : Maya road chip board letters, Tim Holtz Rosettes, Zva Creative Swirls, Martha Stewart layering butterfly punch which I sprayed with glimmer mist. I love to tear my cardstock and then sew the edges. I made incisions  on the butterflies on the patterned paper with my craft knife  to overlap my photo. I distressed the edges of all the papers and photo. Thanks for looking. Here is the sketch:

Nico

 

This is my second entry for Challenge 7 over at Scrap Africa. The challenge is "About A Boy". This is a layout of my son Nico. I did quite a bit of layering and lots of inking and some stitching on this layout.  For the title I used Making Memories sponge stamps and repeated his name with rub-ons. Other products used: Maya Road, Jenni Bowlin and Bo Bunny.

This is my daughter Karen during our last winter photoshoot. She is my favorite scrapping subject and always willing to pose and dress up. On photo days we pack a suitcase full of hats and scarfs and different outfits. On this layout I used the wonderful Tim Holtz products.
